extra considerations. |
 | An Internet Service Provider (ISP). There is help on
choosing an ISP. |
 | A modem - a broadband modem is different from a standard 56k modem (which will
NOT work with Broadband). Broadband
requires a broadband (ADSL) modem to connect your computer to your new
high-speed service. Many ISPs will either give you a modem or will sell you one.

 | Microfilters - microfilters are phone adapters
you plug into all the telephone wall sockets that you use for plugging in equipment
such as telephones, fax machines, computers and Sky Digiboxes. You'll need one
microfilter per socket. This easy-to-install device splits your existing sockets
into two channels - one for your standard BT phone line, one for the high-speed
digital line. This prevents any interference from the ADSL connection. Without
them, you may experience noise on the line when you make or receive a voice call
while using your BT Broadband service. Your ISP will also sell you microfilters
but there are cheaper sources. For suppliers of microfilters,
